Good Barbacks Are Hard To Find..
“I have rarely encountered a job that requires the mental and physical dexterity of a barback. On paper, it looks incredibly simple; a barback washes glassware, stocks bar supplies, cleans everything, and ensures that the bartender has what he needs to go about the business of making the bar (and the staff) as much money as possible. That description does very little to describe the specifics of what a barback is expected to do. What a barback actually does can be summed up in one word: everything.”
Navy Strength Gin is In !
“By the end of 2012, three versions of the hearty gin will be available. The first out of the gate is, in a twist, an American product: Perry’s Tot, released last December by the New York Distilling Company, of Brooklyn. Royal Dock Gin, made by the same British company that produces Hayman’s Old Tom Gin, is expected to arrive in April. And Plymouth, arguably the most famous of the navy strength gins, is set for a late summer launch”
CNN : 10 Classic American Experiences #6 Bourbon Distillery Tour
In 1964, the U.S. Congress decreed bourbon a “distinctive product of the United States,” and established rules that distillers must abide by in order to earn the privilege to label their whiskeys as such.
Bourbon is also the base of three of America’s most definitive cocktails: the old fashioned, mint julep and whiskey sour.
Anyone who likes a good drink should tour a distillery so that they can better appreciate the industrious care that goes into this distinct whiskey.
You can knock out six distilleries in two days by embarking on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which covers Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve.

Kentucky Congressman Yarmuth talks Bourbon with The Washington Post
Why is Bourbon taxed more per proof gallon, than imports ? Our nations authentic spirit is being taxed over 5x as much as imported non-American products ? This just doesn’t add up. We love having a wide range of diverse spirits being imported to the U.S., yet Bourbon should be taxed at the same rate as imports. Arguably less than..
